Dani Fogarty

Teacher and Studio Technician

he/they

Dani is inspired by natural textures and achieving the imitation of stone, wood, and metal in their ceramic surfaces. Their work is heavily influenced by Japanese ceramics and aesthetics; their favorite things to make are tea ware, especially tea bowls, or chawan, for use in chanoyu tea ceremony, of which Dani is a student in the urasenke school. Dani is also a bonsai artist and enjoys making bonsai pots as homes for his little trees.

Some of Dani’s favorite artists who inspire his work are Hashimoto Shinobu, Raku Jikinyu, and Hiroki Lory. His favorite aspect of teaching is being able to witness the moment when a student unlocks a new skill and is able to add it to their toolkit forever.

Dani teaches Sunday and and Tuesday evenings.
