Political Clay is an exhibition of ceramic works responding to issues including race, religion, technology and the fine arts. Historically, our culture has been influenced by all of the previously stated. This exhibition includes artists Jack Earl, Richard Notkin, Peter Voulkos, Robert Arneson, David Trost, Cathy Schwalbe, Derek Walter and other vanguards of the tradition. Jay Strommen, director of the Chicago Ceramic Center, eloquently stated “We are so pleased to have this inaugural exhibition open with exemplary tenets, traditions and artists”.
